• Jaguar F-Pace D165: The entry-level diesel engine is a 2-litre turbocharged unit making 163PS, with an automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive as standard. 0-62mph comes up in 10.2 seconds and Jaguar claims up to 45.4mpg on average.
• Jaguar F-Pace D200: With a boost in power to 201PS, the D200’s diesel gets you from 0-62mph in 7.7 seconds, while economy lags the D165 only slightly, at 43.6mpg combined.
• Jaguar F-Pace D300: D300 models trade four cylinders for a turbocharged V6 diesel, making 300PS and getting to 62mph in 6.2 seconds. Economy takes a larger drop than between the two four-cylinder cars, but 37.4mpg still isn’t bad.

The F-Pace went on sale back in 2016, so around a year’s worth of production is subject to VED (road tax) based on CO2 emissions. With some models having relatively low CO2 emissions (the diesels), there’s a tax saving to be made, the most efficient models attracting a bill of £255. Post April 2017, this jumps up to a flat fee of £190, but with a surcharge applied to all cars costing more than £40,000 brand new (which means most of the F-Pace range), your actual bill will be £600 a year.
